Compassion Focussed Therapy

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is designed to help clients develop self-compassion, reduce self-criticism, and promote emotional healing. It integrates principles from evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and mindfulness. CFT helps clients understand how the brain’s threat, drive, and soothing systems impact their emotions and behaviours. By fostering a sense of warmth, kindness, and understanding toward themselves, clients learn to manage shame, anxiety, and self-judgment. Through guided exercises, such as imagery and compassionate mind training, clients strengthen their ability to self-soothe. CFT is particularly effective for people with high levels of shame, trauma histories, or mood disorders.
